Autologous Stem Cell Therapy

For stem cell therapy in Ginza, trust our clinic specializing in anti-aging treatments.

“Creating New Health at the Cellular Level”
Autologous adipose-derived stem cell therapy involves
culturing “stem cells” extracted from your own fat tissue and returning them to your body.
These stem cells repair tissues experiencing dysfunction, making it a form of regenerative medicine.

What are “Stem Cells”?

Cells that change according to actual needs are called “stem cells”

The human body consists of about 37 trillion cells, with each body part having its respective cell types, such as skin cells, muscle cells, and so on. These cells maintain life by performing their specific functions.

We all start from a single cell — the “egg cell”.
At this stage, cells have not yet determined their specific functions. They continuously divide after fertilization and differentiate to acquire their respective functions as they form the human body.
Stem cells” are cells that have not yet determined their specific function.
Stem cells can become skin cells, liver cells, etc., upon receiving commands.

Our clinic’s stem cell therapy uses “adult stem cells” found within the human body.

Somatic stem cells exist in different parts of our bodies. These cells have specific functions. Until recently, it was believed that, for example, hematopoietic stem cells could only differentiate into blood cells, and neural stem cells could only turn into cells of the nervous system.
However, “mesenchymal stem cells” found in bone marrow have been discovered to have the ability to differentiate into tissues like muscle, cartilage, and nerves, a property known as “multipotency“.

Stem Cell Therapy at Our Clinic

Autologous Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Therapy

At the Tokyo Ginza WELLNESS & AGING clinic, we provide regenerative medicine using the previously mentioned somatic stem cells, specifically those derived from fat.
Autologous adipose-derived stem cell therapy involves extracting a tissue sample about the size of three grains of rice from the patient’s body, culturing it to increase the number of stem cells, and then infusing them back into the body via an IV drip.
This is a cutting-edge medical technology used for anti-aging treatments, such as for atherosclerosis.

Since the patient’s own stem cells are used, the risk of rejection or allergic reactions is extremely low.

What is the “Homing Effect” of Stem Cells?

One important function of stem cells is to replenish cells lost due to disease or injury.
Therefore, stem cells possess the “homing effect,” which is the ability to be guided by signals to specific target areas.
Injured or diseased areas emit signals, and stem cells gather in these areas by receiving those signals.
In effect, they aim for (home to) the damaged sites and perform repairs.

Helping to Improve Atherosclerosis and Vascular Damage Caused by Aging

Atherosclerosis refers to the narrowing of arteries, loss of elasticity, and hardening and brittleness of blood vessels. As the condition progresses, lipid blocks or “plaques” form inside the blood vessels, leading to narrowing and reduced blood flow. If a plaque ruptures, it may block the vessel, causing serious diseases such as stroke or myocardial infarction.

Stem cells can repair damage to the vascular walls caused by atherosclerosis and can generate new blood vessels. Additionally, through the “Homing Effect,” after reaching the damaged vascular sites, stem cells secrete cytokines to inhibit inflammation while stimulating surrounding cells to accelerate repair. They can also differentiate into endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and other cells that make up blood vessels, promoting the regeneration of new blood vessels. Stem cell therapy shows promise in improving vascular blockages caused by atherosclerosis and has significant effects in preventing and treating ischemic diseases in the heart, legs, brain, and other areas.

Treatment Process

Consultation and Examination

The specialist will carefully listen to the patient’s symptoms and needs.
Blood and urine tests are required to determine if the stem cells are suitable for cultivation.

Fat Tissue Collection and Cultivation

A small incision is made under local anesthesia to collect a small amount of fat tissue.
Stem cells are isolated from the fat tissue and cultured.

Stem Cell Injection

Stem cells are infused into the body through intravenous drip, promoting tissue regeneration and repair. The entire treatment takes about 1 hour.

Pain or swelling at the fat extraction site

There may be temporary pain or swelling, but it will improve after a few days.

Inflammation at the injection site

Inflammation may occasionally occur but will improve with appropriate treatment.

Risk of infection

Infections may occur at the surgical site, but strict hygiene management can minimize the risk.

Allergic reactions

Although extremely rare, the medications used during treatment may trigger allergic reactions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be pain during cell extraction or injection?

Local anesthesia is administered during fat tissue extraction, so you will feel almost no pain. The pain during stem cell injection is also minimal.

How long will the swelling and pain last after fat tissue cell extraction?

Typically, there will be swelling and pain at the extraction site for a few days, but it will not interfere with daily life.
※ The duration and severity of swelling and pain vary from person to person.

How long does it usually take for the treatment effects to appear?

Most people experience effects within a few weeks to a few months. The effects are generally expected to last for a long time, and further treatments can help extend these effects.

What is the recommended number of treatments and frequency?

Generally, the ideal frequency is about four times a year, but the specific frequency will depend on the patient’s condition and goals. Discussing this with the doctor during the initial consultation will help create the best plan.
